There was a time when the idea of coaching people I deeply admired and/or who were more successful than me felt intimidating. I wondered: What kind of value can I possibly bring to their life? Shouldn’t they be the ones coaching me?

Over time, I realized I was completely wrong.

The respect and admiration I have for my client is exactly what allows me to help them gain clarity about who they are and what they can achieve. From the inside, it’s much harder to see what is obvious from the outside.

And there’s another key point: a top performer has the speed of understanding and acting that makes the coaching process far more productive.

The principle that guides me is very simple:

I’m not better than you. But you and I together are better than you alone.
