It might seem obvious, but it’s not. Talking about coaching, reading articles or books by coaches, watching videos from personal development gurus—it’s not coaching. Improving on your own, taking a coaching course, studying the science of coaching—it’s still not coaching.
I’m not saying these things aren’t useful: they are, to an extent. But often, they’re just a way to avoid confronting the real issue head-on.
How do you confront it?
By talking to a coach.
It may sound simple, but it’s easy to forget.
Reach out to a coach who inspires you. Start a conversation.
And if you're a coach, invite someone to talk to you. Try to understand what they need, and if you believe you can help, let them know.
